NGC 891

After being treated to a stunning view of this galaxy through a huge 18” telescope, I had to make it a priority on my imaging list. It earned the name, the Silver Sliver Galaxy, due to it looking very silver to the eye through the eyepiece.

This is a barred spiral galaxy seen edge on from our perspective and looks very similar to how our own galaxy, the Milky Way, appears in our skies. It is located in the Andromeda constellation approximately 30 million light years away.
