Eclipse On Jupiter
Jupiter has four large moons and they will often cast their shadows on the cloud tops which we can observe and photograph. Here on Earth, when the we are in the shadow of the moon, we call it a total solar eclipse. In this image Europa can be seen on the right of the planet’s disk and Europa’s shadow on the left. Europa is the smallest of the Galilean moons, an ice covered world with a suspected subsurface ocean containing more water than on Earth.
